Hilton Hotel - Heathrow Terminal 5 - 01/09/2009
Metaldeck have recently secured decking and concrete works on the prestigious new Hilton Hotel being constructed at Heathrows Terminal 5 from John Sisk and Sons Ltd worth in excess of half million pounds.
This fast track project commenced on site in June 2009 and Metaldeck are scheduled to begin decking deliveries on the 12,000 m2 scheme in late August 2009 to coincide with the erection of the steel frame which is being carried out by Atlas Ward Structures.
The floordeck design uses Kingspan MD80 in thicknesses upto 1.5mm in a series of single span conditions to form the mezzanine and first floor slabs which are upto 200mm thick.
The construction of the Hotel uses a hybrid of steel frame and decking to the lower levels with precast and concrete walls and slabs above to form the bedroom pods and circulation areas.
Metaldeck's package solution was selected in close open competition from two other alternative decking suppliers and the concrete expertise demonstrated by the company proved to be the deciding factor in the tender process.
The main portion of steel and decking is due to be completed within a 12 week duration.
